History

The Writing Hour was founded in March, 2012 by Alina Grigorovitch in an effort to not write alone all the time. The group’s early days were nomadic, spent moving between the study rooms, cafe nooks, and lounge areas of public and university libraries. Eventually the group partnered with Litmore and moved into their space in the Mt. Washington and later Hampden neighborhoods of Baltimore. Currently, the Writing Hour meets on Sundays at the downtown Baltimore hostel, HI Baltimore, and at various coffee shops, parks, and other popup venues around the city.

Over the years the Writing Hour has branched out from regular group writing sessions to include a variety of other events and creative publications.

Members who contribute and have contributed to event planning and lit mag production include: Adi Desai, John Guchemand, Kurt Crisman, David Tablada, Rhianna Toner, Ian Levine, William Pearce, Casey Lichtman.
