Baltimore locals: contribute your perspectives to a public art project for the Waverly community
Designer and artist Ebon Heath is looking for collaborators to contribute perspectives to a sculpture commissioned by the Waverly Branch of the Enoch Pratt Free Library to form a tapestry of local perspectives.
From Ebon Heath:
For this project I am creating a wall mounted sculpture of words made from a tapestry of local perspectives that represent the community the library serves. I am looking for collaborators so that many diverse voices can be heard and immortalized in this public art piece for years to come.
I am asking poets, writers, emcees, historians, activists, workers, local legends or lesser known heroes (from elders to teens) to share perspectives on their neighborhood. Who, where, or what is the heart and soul of your neighborhood? Who are the people, where are the places, what are the events in your life that reflects your family or friends in this area. This can be a few sentences or a few paragraphs. These words will be laser cut into metal for the sculpture. All contributors will be credited for their participation. You do not need to be a resident of Waverly to participate.
Send your submission by August 1, 2016.
